BEAUMONT - A day after announcing five transfer signees, Lamar University football coach Ray Woodard has added Fort Scott Community College offensive lineman Chris Mayer to the newest group of Cardinals.

Mayer, who is listed at 6-foot-7 and 345 pounds, played two seasons at Fort Scott and earned honorable mention All-Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) honors as a sophomore. Mayer blocked for a Greyhound offense which accounted for 340 yards and 26 points per game.

A native of Shawnee, Kans., Mayer prepped at Mill Valley High School where he helped the team to four straight playoff appearances. Mayer earned All-Kaw Valley Conference honors on both the offensive and defensive lines as a senior.
