LOS CABOS, Mexico - The Lamar men's golf team shot a 307 to finish the first round of the Querencia Cabo Collegiate tied for 12th Sunday afternoon in Los Cabos, Mexico. Freshman Louis Bemberg led the way for Lamar firing a four-over par 76 on the 7,050-yard, par-72 Los Cabos Querencia course.

Newcomer Mans Berglund tied Bemberg for 33rd on the individual leaderboard with his opening-round 76. Both Bemberg and Berglund finished the day a stroke ahead of Zander Gous who posted 46th-place finish with a five-over 77.

Junior Gustaf Burenstam enters the second-round of 18 holes tied for 54th overall. Burenstam shot a 78 Sunday and sits only a stroke back of Gous. Sophomore Gregory Wiggins was never able to find his rhythm in the opening round. Wiggins finished the day 10 strokes over, placing himself in a tie for 84th.

"We really struggled with this course today," said head coach Brian White. "This really gets you motivated to get back out here as soon as possible and put this day behind you. We definitely have our work cut out for us over the next two days."

Lamar returns to action for the second round of 18 holes Monday morning. Tournament action gets underway with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
