LITTLE ROCK, Ark - The Lamar University men's golf team is tied for ninth place after the first round of the UALR/First Tee Collegiate Classic on Monday.
The Cardinals posted a combined score of 299 on the 7,221-yard par-72 Chenal Country Club Course. Xavier Feyaerts led Lamar with an even-par 72, putting him in a tie for ninth place, three strokes off of the lead.
Lamar's Hugues Joannes is tied for 27th after firing a 74, M.J. Daffue is tied for 40th after carding a 75, Pierre Alexis Rolland is in a tie for 68th after firing a 78 and Kevin Hesbois posted an 80 to put him in a tie for 82nd.
Southeastern Louisiana leads the 18-team field after registering a 288. Central Arkansas is second with a 289.
There is a three-way tie for first in the individual standings. Philipp Fendt of Louisiana-Lafayette, Steven Lecuyer of Central Arkansas and Stuart Ballingall of Missouri all turned in first-round scores of 3-under 69.
The second round got under way immediately after Monday's first round. The third, and final, round is set for Tuesday morning.
Lamar is the defending champion, and has won the title three times in the past four years.
