RALEIGH, N. Car. - Xavier Feyaerts and M.J. Daffue each opened with 1-under par 70s on Saturday at the Wolfpack Spring Open to help the Lamar University men's golf team to first place at the midway point of the 36-hole tournament.

The Cardinals shot a team score of 290 (+6) on the par-71, 7,358-yard Lonnie Poole Golf Course , and lead Richmond University by one stroke in the 12-team tournament. The tournament, which is hosted by North Carolina State, will conclude on Sunday with the final 18 holes.

Feyaerts was 4-under through 11 holes, but finished with three bogeys over the final seven to finish with his 70. Daffue's scorecard was more up-and-down as the junior finished with five birdies, four bogeys, a double bogey, an eagle and seven pars.

Sam Beach of Richmond leads the field of 67 golfers after carding a 2-under 69.

Francis Marion shot a team score of 302 (+18) and stands in third place, 12 strokes behind Lamar. North Carolina and Binghamton are tied for fourth at 303, while Louisiana-Monroe stands in sixth with a 305. NC State, Longwood University and Old Dominion are tied for seventh at 306.

LU junior Kevin Hesbois is tied for 10th after posting a 74, while Matt Stephens shot a 76 to tie for 21st. Sophomore Pierre-Alexis Rolland shot 79 and is tied for 46th.
