McKINNEY, Texas - The Lamar men's golf team fired a 304 Tuesday afternoon on the par 72 Stonebridge Ranch Country Club course in McKinney, Texas, which was four strokes over their opening-round score. Despite shooting 16-over par on the day, Lamar was able to maintain its hold on sixth place in the standings (300-304 - 604).

The Cardinals enter the final round of action within 12 strokes of the next four teams ahead of them.

"I'm proud of how Stephane (Dubois) is playing right now," said head coach Brian White. "He is competing the way you want your seniors to compete at an event of this magnitude.

"This is not the second round we had envisioned. Quite frankly, we didn't do what we needed to make up ground on the teams in front of us. It's times like these where you can see what you're really made of. I expect our guys to come out here tomorrow with a little bit of fight," added White.

Dubois continues to lead the Cardinals with a second-round one-over par. He is sixth overall with a two-round 145 (+1). Dubois is still in the hunt for the overall title, but he has his work cut out for him with only 18 holes remaining. Central Arkansas' Pep Angles is atop the individual leaderboard with an eight-under 136.

Freshman Zander Gous has posted Lamar's second-lowest score through two rounds, but is six strokes off Dubois' pace. Gous is tied for 20th with a two-round 77-74 - 151. He posted his two-over just 24 hours after recording the team's highest score in the opening round.

Sophomore Gregory Wiggins fell off his first-round pace, but managed to finish the day within the overall top 25. Wiggins enters Wednesday's final round of action tied for 24th (75-78 - 153). Junior Gustaf Burenstam ended the day tied for 29th overall two strokes back of Wiggins. Burenstam enters the final 18 holes with a 76-79 - 155.

Freshman Louis Bemberg rounded out Lamar's day with a 77-81 - 158. Bemberg is currently tied for 39th overall.

The Cardinals return to the course for the final round of the Southland Conference Championships Wednesday at 8:50 a.m. Bemberg will be the first Cardinal to tee off, and Lamar will be paired up with McNeese State and Central Arkansas.
