GLENCOE, Ill. - Junior Stephane Dubois had his best finish as a Lamar Cardinal, helping the men's golf team to an eighth place finish Monday at the Windon Memorial Classic from Skokie Country Club.

Dubois, who transferred to Lamar from Wisconsin last spring, tied for 12th place with a 220 (+7) total. After opening the 54-hole event with a 77, Dubois posted a 72 and a 71 on the par-71, 7,081-yard Donald Ross designed course which has hosted a U.S. Open.

Lamar registered team scores of 304-297-301 for a 902 total (+50) to finish seven strokes behind Indiana in the 15-team field. Ohio State came from fifth place after two rounds to capture the team title with an 881 total, one stroke ahead of tournament host Northwestern (882).

Coastal Carolina finished third with an 884 total (+32), with Michigan State placing fourth at 889 (+37) and Tennessee and UC Davis tying for fifth at 890.

John Callahan of Northwestern won individual medalist honors at 1-under-par after rounds of 69-74-69=212. Callahan, who defeated Coastal Carolina's Ben Wheeler by one stroke, played the tournament as an individual and his score did not count toward the Wildcats' team total.

Lamar sophomore Luke Jerling and senior Erik Knudsen tied for 23rd in the 84-man field at 12-over-par 225. Jerling closed with a 78 in round 3 after carding scores of 73 and 74. Knudsen shot back-to-back 76s before closing with a 73 for his 225 total.

Senior Marc Dobias tied for 50th for the Cardinals with a 232 total (+19). Dobias' best score was a 75 in Round 2, and the VCU transfer added a 78 in Sunday's opening round and closed with a 79 on Monday.

Lamar's final golfer was sophomore Gustaf Burenstam who tied for 68th with a 240 total (+27). Burenstam carded rounds of 79-78-83.



Lamar will be back in action in two weeks at the David Toms Intercollegiate from Southern Trace Country Club in Shreveport, La. The Cards placed second at last year's David Toms Intercollegiate which is hosted by LSU.
