Hesbois' Second-Place Finish Helps LU Finish Fifth At Fighting Irish Gridiron Golf Classic

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Lamar sophomore Kevin Hesbois recorded the best finish of his career Tuesday as his final round 71 placed him into a tie for second at the Fighting Irish Gridiron Golf Classic at the Warren Golf Course.
His 54-hole score of 214 was also a career-low, bettering his 215 at last year's Southland Conference Championship when he finished fifth. After a birdie on the 17th put him at three over for the tournament, he needed a birdie on the 455-yard par four 18th to potentially force a playoff. But his third bogey of the round dropped him back to four over for the event.
Senior Hugues Joannes broke out of the funk that say him enter the day in 48th place as his final-round 71 moved him into a tie for 32nd at 224. He also struggled on the final hole, making a triple bogey after birdying the 17th to go 2-under for the day. He played the 18th hole six over for the tourney.
Junior James Dalthorp tied Joannes at 224 after signing for a 75 on Tuesday. Freshman Pierre-Alexis Rolland had his best round of the week with a 74 to move up one spot into a tie for 47th at 227. Sophomore Xavier Feyaerts' 78 pushed his total to 228 and a tie for 53rd.
Lamar climbed two spots into fifth at 884 following its round of 291, it's lowest of the season through six rounds.
Notre Dame won the team title with an 870 score. Ohio State was second at 874, Arkansas third at 878 and UT Arlington fourth at 883.
UND's Josh Sandman won the event with a 212, despite shooting a 74 in the final round.
Lamar's next tournament will be the Lone Star Invitational, which begins Sunday, Oct. 18 at Briggs Ranch Country Club in San Antonio.
