BATON ROUGE, La. - Paced by Gustaf Burenstam, the Lamar University men's golf team is in ninth place following Saturday's opening two rounds of the David Toms Intercollegiate hosted by LSU at the University Club.
Burenstam is tied for 37th in the 59-player field after posting rounds of 79-81--160. Lane Hulse of South Alabama and Chad Ramey of Mississippi State share the individual lead at 1-over par 145. Hulse posted rounds of 76-69 and Ramey had rounds of 73-72 on the par-72, 7,578-yard layout.
Host LSU and USA share the team lead after 36-holes. The Tigers carded rounds of 295-302--597 and the Jaguars had rounds of 302-295--597. Louisiana Tech is third at 603, followed by Mississippi State (605) and Tulsa (607) to round out the top five in the nine-team field. Lamar is ninth after rounds of 320-329--649.
Erik Knudsen is tied for 40th after posting rounds of 78-83--161. Luke Jerling is alone in 43rd place after carding rounds of 81-81--162. Stephane Dubois and Greg Wiggins are tied for 48th place after carding identical rounds of 82-84--166.
The David Toms Intercollegiate concludes Sunday with the final 18 holes.
