Rolland's Two-Under Leads Cardinals At Lone Star Invitational
Oct. 18, 2009 Click here for Day One Results and Live Scoring SAN ANTONIO -- Lamar freshman Pierre-Alexis Rolland turned in a career-low 36-hole score to lead the Lamar men's golf team to a sixth place standing following the first two rounds of the Lone Star Invitational @ Briggs Ranch Sunday. Rolland's 72-70--142 score put him in a tie for seventh among the 60-player field. He is seven strokes out of first, which is held by John Hurley of Texas A&M with a 135. Senior Hugues Joannes is tied for 25th after posting a two-round total of 77-72--149, while sophomore Kevin Hesbois is a stroke back at 149. He tied his season-low with a second-round 70 which vaulted him into a tie for 28th. Sophomore MJ Daffue's 72 in the second round was a season-low for him, as was junior James Dalthorp's opening-round 74. That due is tied for 46th and 51st, respectively. As a team, Lamar found itself in ninth place after a 303 in the first round before rallying for a season-best 284 (4-under) to climb up three spots into sixth with a 587. The 284 was tied for the second-best single-round score of the day. Four of Lamar's lineup played their afternoon round considerably lower than the morning. Hesbois and Daffue trimmed 10 and 11 strokes each, respectively. Texas A&M leads the 12-team field - which consists of solely Texas schools - by ten shots with a 566 total. Texas is second at 576, Baylor is third at 577, SMU is fourth at 585 and UT Arlington is fifth at 587 - one stroke ahead of the Cardinals.
