SOMIS, Calif. - Sophomore Oliver Bekker shares the 36-hole lead and the Lamar men's golf team holds the team lead after the first two rounds of The Club Glove Intercollegiate hosted by Pepperdine at Saticoy Country Club (Par-72, 6,985-yards).

Bekker, a native of Stellenbosch, South Africa, opened with a 1-under par 71 in Monday mornings round and shot a 75 in the afternoon for a 36-hole score of 2-over 146. He shares the 36-hole lead with Jason Kokrak of Xavier. Charlie Beljan of New Mexico and Ricky Romano of Houston are tied for third at 147.

Lamar shot a 296 in the morning and a 298 in the afternoon for a 36-hole total of 594 and holds a two-stroke lead over Louisville. Host Pepperdine is third at 599, followed by New Mexico (605) and Houston (610) to round out the top five in the 12-team field. The teams will play the final 18 holes today to complete the 54-hole event.

Casey Clendenon and Ryan Kornmann are tied for fifth place. Clendenon, a junior from Katy, posted consecutive rounds of 2-over 74 for a 4-over 148. Kornmann, a senior from Kingwood, shot rounds of 75-73 for his 4-over 148. Kornmann is playing his first tournament of the season and is replacing junior Dawie Van Der Walt in Lamar's lineup this week as Van Der Walt is playing for his home country South Africa in the Men's World Amateur.

Justin Harding, a sophomore from Cape Town, South Africa, shot consecutive rounds of 76 and is tied for 16th at 152. Dusty Smith, a senior from The Woodlands, is tied for 35th following rounds of 78-80--158.
