SOMIS, Calif. - Casey Clendenon placed in the Top 10 and the Lamar University men's golf team finished fifth following Tuesday's final round at The Club Glove Intercollegiate hosted by Pepperdine University at Saticoy Country Club (Par-72, 6,405-yards).
Clendenon, a senior from Katy, shot a final round 78 and tied for eighth place with a 54-hole score of 76-77-78--231. Despite shooting a final round 80, Joel Sjoholm of Georgia State held off the field to claim medalist honors with a 54-hole score of 9-over 225. Andrew Putnam of Pepperdine finished one-stroke back.
Host Pepperdine won the team title with a 54-hole total of 905. Loyola-Marymount was second at 915, followed by Georgia State (929) and Colorado State (937). Lamar shot a final round 316 and finished fifth in the 12-team field with a 54-hole total of 313-309-316--938.
Hugues Joannes, a sophomore from Brussels, Belgium, shot a final round 79 and tied for 17th with a 54-hole score of 81-74-79--234. A junior from Cape Town, South Africa, Justin Harding shot a final round 82 and tied for 27th at 79-77-82--238.
Russell Helson, a senior from Georgetown, shot a final round 80 and tied for 37th at 79-81-80--240. Leroux Ferriera, a junior from South Africa, closed with a final round 79 and placed 42nd at 79-83-79--241.
Lamar continues its fall schedule Sunday through Tuesday at the Calloway Match Play Championship in Atlanta.
