DALLAS - Lamar got a pair of strong performances out of Erik Knudsen and Stephane Dubois, but could not get enough support as the men's golf team settled for a 13th place finish at the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate on Tuesday.

Playing on the par-71, 7,068-yard Royal Oaks Country Club, Knudsen shot his career low round with a 2-under-par 69 on Tuesday to move into a tie for 12th with Dubois. Knudsen opened with a pair of 71s on Monday for a 211 total (-2).

Dubois carded a pair of 69s on Monday before closing with a 73 in the 54-hole tournament. The Wisconsin transfer was 6-under in the tournament at one point Tuesday but finished with bogeys on two of his last three holes to finish with his 73.

The 14-team event, which was won by Lamar's M.J. Daffue at 11-under-par last year, had co-individual winners this year. Oklahoma State's Ian Davis and Iowa's Ian Vandersee each shot even-par 71s on Tuesday to finish at 7-under-par 206.

Davis' OSU squad came from behind to win the team title at 10-under-par. The 16th-ranked Cowboys closed with a 283 for an 842 total for 54 holes. No. 4 New Mexico and Texas Tech tied for second at 6-under-par 846 with No. 9 SMU (848) and Iowa (851) rounding out the top five.

Lamar shot a pair of 288s on Monday and finished with a 291 for a three-round score of 867 (+15). The Cardinals finished six strokes behind No. 30 North Carolina and bested Ohio State by nine strokes.

Sophomore Gustaf Burenstam was Lamar's third finisher in a tie for 62nd. Burenstam opened with an even-par 71 before posting rounds of 76 and 75 for a 222 total (+9). Senior Marc Dobias finished one stroke behind Burenstam in a tie for 66th. Dobias shot rounds of 77-72-74=223 (+10).

Sophomore Luke Jerling, who finished fifth in the event last year, struggled to an 80th place finish with a 245 total (+32). Jerling closed with an 86 after rounds of 81 and 78 on Monday.

The Cardinals have less than a week off before competing in their final tournament of the fall. Lamar is scheduled to play in The Gifford Collegiate from CordeValle Golf Resort beginning this Monday.
