Lamar Slips To Seventh At Gifford Collegiate

SAN MARTIN, Calif. -- The Lamar men's golf team shot a 361 in the second round of the Gifford Collegiate and is in seventh place entering Wednesday's final round at CordeValle Resort.

The Cardinals had been tied for second but their 1-over team score saw them drop five spots with a 36-hole total of 713.

Kevin Hesbois and Pierre-Alexis Rolland are currently placed in the top-20 to pace the LU squad. Hesbois carded a 4-under 68 on Tuesday and is in 12th place at 140, while Rolland's even-par round put his score at 2-under 142 for the tourney - good for a 19th-place tie.

James Dalthorp and Hugues Joannes are both tied for 28th at 143. They have each turned in rounds of 71 and 72 thus far. MJ Daffue struggled to maintain the scoring touch from Monday's 68 as he shot a 78 on Tuesday. He is tied for 43rd at 146. Xavier Feyaerts posted his second 77 of the tournament and is tied for 62nd at 154.

No. 2 Stanford leads the 14-team field at 704, followed by No. 1 Oklahoma State and Duke at 705, No. 17 UCLA at 709, Charlotte at 710 and No. 11 Augusta State at 711.

Lamar will be paired with 12th-ranked USC on Wednesday. The three Cardinals and Trojan foursomes will start the final round on holes 8-10 with a shotgun start at 11 a.m. Central time.
