Lamar Claims Fifth Top-10 Finish of Fall Season

SAN MARTIN, Calif. -- The Lamar men's golf team concluded play at the Gifford Collegiate at Corde Valley Wednesday in eighth place to complete its fall season with its fifth top-10 finish in as many events. The Cards shot 372 in the final round and finished with a 1085 total, 5-over for the 54-hole tourney. Pierre-Alexis Rolland and Kevin Hesbois tied for 18th place at 214, while Hugues Joannes tied for 35th at 217. Rolland and Hesbois each had a team-best 13 birdies this week, while Hesbois had the lone eagle by a Cardinal. Joannes led LU with 38 pars over the 7,169-yard tract. MJ Daffue completed the tournament with a 223 score, James Dalthorp was a stroke back at 224 and Xavier Feyaerts had a 229 to complete the Lamar scoreboard. Peter Uihlein of Oklahoma State won the individual title with a 14-under, 202 tally for his second win of the fall. Second-ranked Stanford won the team title with a 1056 total, three strokes ahead of top-ranked Oklahoma State at 1059. No. 11 Augusta State was third at 1061, No. 17 UCLA was fourth at 1067, No. 36 Duke was fifth at 1073, while No. 12 USC and No. 57 Charlotte tied for sixth at 1077. The Cardinals did finish higher than Northwestern, Colorado and Ohio State - three teams currently ranked ahead of LU in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin Ratings. Lamar will open the spring portion of its 2009-10 season at the Gator Invitational, Feb. 13-14 in Gainesville, Fla.
