BEAUMONT, Texas -
The Lamar men's golf team will be in Spartanburg, S.C. Monday and Tuesday competing in the 2014 Coca-Cola Wofford Invitational. The two-day, three-round tournament will consist of 36 holes Monday with the final 18 holes on Tuesday.
The Wofford Invitational will take place on the 6,648-yard, par-72 Country Club of Spartanburg course. Action is slated to get under way at 9:30 a.m. with a shotgun start both days.
"This is our final tune-up before we open the Southland Conference Championships," said head coach Brian White. "It is very important that we put together a strong performance here, and carry that momentum into the conference tournament."
The 15-team field will consists of tournament-host Wofford, Appalachian State, Elon, Francis Marion, Gardner-Webb, High Point, James Madison, Lamar, Longwood, Presbyterian, Radford, Stetson, TCU, USC Upstate and Western Carolina.
The Cardinals are looking to bounce back from a tough outing at the Valspar Intercollegiate in Palm City, Fla. Lamar finished the Valspar 15th overall against a nationally competitive field.
The Cardinals have received strong play from junior Gustaf Burenstam over the course of the past three tournaments, but Lamar was led by a trio of golfers in Florida. Senior Stephane Dubois, junior Luke Jerling and freshman Zander Gous each fired an eight-over par 224.
The tournament results can be followed throughout the day by logging on to Golf Stat.
