OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - Former Lamar University golfer Shawn Stefani fired a final round 7-under-par 64 Sunday at the Midwest Classic to move from a 13th place tie and earn his first career victory on the Web.Com Tour.

Stefani, who starred for the Cardinals from 2001-05, finished the tournament at 17-under-par on the par-71 Nicklaus Golf Club at LionsGate to pocket $99,000. After posting four straight rounds in the 60s, Stefani finished two strokes ahead of Luke List and Russell Henley for the victory.

Stefani opened the tournament with back-to-back 68s before carding a 67 (-4) in Saturday's third round. His final round was a bogey-free effort which included a sparking 5-under-par 30 on the back nine to surge ahead for the win.

Stefani jumped from 54th to 12th on the Web.Com Tour's (formerly the Nationwide Tour) money list with $166,715. The top 25 on the money list at the end of the season earn their card on the PGA Tour next year. Last year, Billy Hurley III was 25th on the money list with $180,191.

A native of Baytown, Stefani earned All-Southland Conference honors three times during his playing career at Lamar as he helped the Cardinals to a pair of league titles. Stefani also helped the Cardinals to four straight NCAA Regional appearances with a best finish of a tie for 38th during his junior season.
