The Lamar Cardinals return to action Saturday when they travel to Baton Rouge, La., to compete in the David Toms Intercollegiate. A rare weekend tournament for the golf team, the David Toms Intercollegiate will take place Saturday and Sunday from the University Club Course. The tournament is slated to begin Saturday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. Sunday's final round of 18 holes will also begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
The David Toms Intercollegiate will consist of a nationally competitive field of teams, including four ranked in the nation's top 50 and two in the top 25. Teams competing include No. 40 Coastal Carolina, No. 25 Houston, Iowa State, Kennesaw State, Lamar, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana Tech, No. 22 LSU, Middle Tennessee State, Rice, No. 47 South Alabama and Southeastern Louisiana.
The Cardinals have played two tournaments during the fall semester, including a runner-up finish at the Wolverine Intercollegiate in Ann Arbor, Mich. Lamar is currently being led by junior Luke Jerling. The South Africa native currently ranks among the league leaders with a 71.8 stroke average on the season, while senior Stephane Dubois is second with a 73.2 stroke average.

Following the David Toms Intercollegiate, the Lamar Cardinals will have only one more tournament remaining during the fall semester. Lamar closes out the first half of the season at the Gifford Collegiate in Newport Beach, Calif.
