Russell Grogan is in his third season as an assistant coach for the men's and women's tennis programs. In addition to assisting with the tennis teams, Grogan also serves as the tennis coordinator and head Pro at the Beaumont Municipal Tennis Center.
A native of Beaumont, Grogan graduated from French High, before receiving a scholarship to play tennis at Galveston Community College. In 1985, he joined the Navy and served as a Naval Hospital Corpsmen. In 1987 he received a letter of commendation for outstanding professionalism during the inpatient visit of former president, Ronald Reagan.
A 1991 graduate of Delta Career Institute, Grogan led the Kelly High women's tennis team to a pair of TCIL State Championships in 1997 and 1998, while serving as the head coach. He currently holds three professional certifications through the USPTA, USPTR and USNTA.
In 2000, Grogan was appointed to the USTA Texas Tennis Association Executive Committee. He served as the USTA TTA Multicultural Participation Committee Chair for three years.
Grogan is currently working towards a bachelors degree in applied arts and sciences at Lamar University.
