BEAUMONT - The visiting 74th-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns seemed to have the answers on Saturday afternoon as the Lamar men's tennis team fell 7-0 at Thompson Family Tennis Center.
The Cajuns started off hot, picking up a pair of 8-2 victories to secure the doubles point as Jake Wynan and Rick de Groot dropped Rob Lee and Mikko Rajamaki, and the team of Hunter and Yates Johnson beat Steven McMullan and Bruno Snyder.
Trey Crysel and Carl-Philip Lindqvist trailed 4-6 at court three to Damian Farinola and Coleman Wahlborg before the point was decided.
In No. 1 singles, Lee dropped a tight opening set 7-6 before falling 6-4 in the second to Jake Wynan, and de Groot knocked off Lindqvist 6-4, 6-1 at the second spot.
Snyder attempted to rally from a 6-2 first set loss, but Jarred Wynan was able to hold the Peruvian off, winning 7-5 in the second to secure the victory for the Ragin' Cajuns.
In other singles action, Rajamaki fell to Edgar Lopez 6-2, 6-2 on court four, and Hunter Johnson picked up a 6-1, 6-1 decision over Steven McMullan at No. 5. Trey Crysel lost 6-2, 6-2 at the final position to Farinola.
Lamar dropped to 1-2 this season and will return to action next weekend with matches against Texas Tech and Wichita State in Lubbock, Texas.
