LOGAN, Utah - Steven McMullan picked up his third victory in five matches, but unfortunately for the Lamar men's tennis team, he was the only Cardinal in the victory column as the team lost 6-1 at Utah State.

"Steven was solid from beginning to end," head coach Scott Shankles said. "He played a good match, and I felt that Rob, Carl-Philip and Mikko each had their chances in singles. I think tomorrow will be a better day, and we'll learn from our mistakes today."

McMullan beat Marcus Fritz 6-4, 6-3 at line four.

Both Rob Lee and Mikko Rajamaki nearly forced a third set in their respective matches. Lee lost 6-3, 7-6 to Sven Poslusny at No. 1, and Rajamaki fell in 6-4, 7-5 fashion to Sean Levesque at the fifth spot. Carl-Philip Lindqvist picked up an opening set win, but ultimately lost 6-1, 3-6, 6-7 to fellow Swede Fredrik Peterson at line two.

In other singles action, Bruno Snyder beaten 6-1, 6-2 by Matt Sweet, and Trey Crysel fell 6-2, 6-1 to Curran Wearmouth.

The Aggies swept through the doubles round. Lee and McMullan fell 8-6, Rajamaki and Snyder lost 8-4, and Crysel and Lindqvist dropped an 8-3 decision.

Lamar will return to action on Sunday at Weber State.
