BEAUMONT, Texas -
The Lamar University men's tennis team dropped a pair of Southland Conference contests over the weekend in Louisiana, falling to Southeastern Louisiana and Nicholls State.
The Cardinals started the weekend with a 6-1 loss to Southeastern Louisiana on Friday afternoon in Hammond La. Lamar's point came from Richard Filkuka who knocked took out Damein Cordoba 4-6, 6-4, 10-8 at No. 4 singles.
On Saturday Lamar dropped a 5-2 decision at Nicholls State. The Cards two points came from Mario Janjic at No. 2 singles and Diego Snyder at No. 5. Janjic rallied from behind to defeat Eric Fisher 1-6, 6-4, 6-3 and Snyder took down Sammy Mulan 7-5 6-1.
With the two set backs the Cardinals fall to 7-9 overall for the year and are now 0-3 in Southland Conference play.
The Cards will be back in action on Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. when they host the Ragin' Cajuns of Louisiana Lafayette at the Cardinal Courts. Friday's match will be the first of two over the weekend for LU who takes on UT Pan American on Saturday at 1 p.m. in their final home match of the year.
