Southern Miss Invite rained out
Sept. 29, 2012
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Mikko Rajamaki picked up a victory, and the Lamar men’s tennis team looked good on Saturday morning, but inclement weather caught up the Cardinals as the Southern Miss Invite was rained out. Only three matches were completed on the day, as LU took on opponents from Nicholls. Rajamaki paced the Cards with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over James Russell at No. 4. “Mikko played great,” head coach Scott Shankles said. “He never lost his serve and played with a lot of energy. I’m very happy for him after a couple of losses yesterday.” Rob Lee fell 6-1, 6-3 at the top spot to Nico Mertens, and Steven McMullan lost 6-3, 6-1 to Siddarth Sivakumar at No. 5. Carl-Philip Lindqvist was on track for a victory over Roy Knight, holding a 6-2, 6-6 (2-1) advantage, and Bruno Snyder was up 7-6, 2-5 over Manuel Estruega. #LUTennis
