FT. WORTH, Texas – The Lamar men’s tennis team finished its play at the ITA Texas Regional on Monday as the duo of Rob Lee and Bruno Snyder fell 8-4 to Tommy Bennett and Adam Gustafsson of Rice at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Complex on the campus of TCU.

“We started off really well, had an early break and held on to it for a bit,” head coach Scott Shankles said. “We had a few too many unforced errors and allowed Rice to take it back. They played well, so credit goes to them. It’s a good lesson learned about starting off strong and holding off an opponent.”

The tournament marks the final event of the fall for the Lamar men’s tennis program, which will now begin preparations for the spring season.

“With tennis, you always want to play well at Regionals because it’s the biggest tournament of the fall,” Shankles said. “It allows you to play great opponents and get ready for the intensity of the spring. I think this will be something that the guys can learn from and apply to the dual matches in the spring.”
