BEAUMONT – The Lamar men’s tennis team will be chasing down its first conference victory on Saturday as the Cardinals welcome in Oral Roberts for a match at Beaumont Municipal Tennis Center.

Lamar (2-14, 0-1 Southland) will be looking to get back on track after dropping a pair of 6-1 decisions to Utah State and Weber State two weeks ago.

Rob Lee will look to lead the Red and White as the senior comes into the encounter with five victories. He’s also one of two Cards to pick up a conference win on the year, beating New Orleans’ Rui Silva in February.

Mikko Rajamaki also joined Lee in the victory column vs. UNO with a victory over Guillermo Aylon.

UNO finished SLC play earlier this season with a 4-1 mark.

Rajamaki, Steven McMullan and Carl-Philip Lindqvist have each notched four victories on the year, and Bruno Snyder has three.

With a 2-13 record, the Golden Eagles will be looking to get going as well on Saturday. ORU’s lone wins are against Metro State and John Brown. Fabian Zierleyn leads the team with seven wins, and Jason Mechali is second with five. The rest of the squad has combined for eight singles victories.

ORU has played two conference matches, losing to both New Orleans and Nicholls.

Saturday’s match will begin at 11 a.m. at Beaumont Municipal Tennis Center.
