BEAUMONT – The Lamar men’s tennis team has experienced one of its best seasons in a quarter-century this year, and the Cardinals will be looking to further add to it this weekend as they close out the regular season at new Southland member Incarnate Word.

With a 12-12 record, the Cards have taken home more wins over NCAA Division I competition than any LU team since the retirement of legendary Ron Wesbrooks in 1987. Unfortunately, it hasn’t carried over as much into conference play as injuries to regular No. 1 Michael Feucht and Steven McMullan has seen LU post a 1-4 conference record.

Feucht, who boasts of a 10-7 singles record, is one of three on the roster boasting of double-digit wins. Juuso Laitinen boasts of a team-best 12 wins on the year, and Nikita Lis is 11-8. All three players have won matches at the top two spots in the line-up.

Laitinen and Feucht have been the top doubles team, going 11-3.

After missing action much of the season, another freshman in Jeandre Hoogenboezem has picked it up in conference play, posting a team-best 4-1 mark in league matches. The South African is 6-7 overall.

Mikko Rajamaki and Carl-Philip Lindqvist both have seven wins this year, and Trey Crysel is 3-5.

Incarnate Word is 14-6 this year with a 2-3 league mark, beating Oral Roberts and New Orleans.
