FRISCO, Texas - Junior David Wanja, sophomore Mario Janjic and freshman Andres Medina earned all-Southland Conference honors for the Lamar University men's tennis team, while Freshman Kaltrina Harbuzi was Named SLC Freshman of the year for the LU women, on Thursday.

Wanja posted a 3-2 record in SLC play at No. 4 singles and was named second team all-conference in the No. 4 position. The duo of Janjic and Medina grabbed second-team honors at No. 3 doubles after posting a 3-2 record.

Harbuzi, who played the entire season at No. 1 singles, led the way for the LU women with a 10-1 record in conference play, with her only loss coming at the hands of SLC player of the year Emilija Arnaudovska of Southeastern Louisiana. For the season, she posted an overall record of 16-5.

The 2007 Southland Conference men's and women's tennis championships are set for April 20-22 in San Antonio, Texas. The three day event will be hosted at the Texas-San Antonio Tennis Center on the campus of UTSA. Admission is free.

The women begin the tournament against Texas State at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, while the men open against Southeastern Louisiana at 3:30 p.m.
