FRISCO – For the first time since 2011, multiple players were named to the All-Southland Conference teams as both Rob Lee and Carl-Philip Lindqvist were honored by the league office on Thursday.
Lee, a senior out of Brighton, England, became just the fourth Cardinal to be named to the first team since LU re-joined the Southland in 1999. He’s the second to earn the distinction under the direction of head coach Scott Shankles, joining Carlos Valdenebro a year ago. This season, Lee compiled a 3-2 conference record at the No. 1 position.
Carl-Philip Lindqvist played the entire season at the No. 2 spot for the Cards, going 2-3 in his debut season wearing the Red and White. He’s the first freshman to be named all-conference in singles for Lamar since Jakob Paulsen in 2002.
The duo will look to build on their regular season accomplishments on later this week as the team will be the fourth seed at the Southland Championships, which will take place at Beaumont Municipal Tennis Center on Saturday and Sunday. The Cards are set to square off against top-seeded Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 11 a.m.
