BEAUMONT, Texas - Lamar University's Carlos Valdenebro (Sevilla, Spain) was named to the Southland Conference All-Academic Men's Tennis Team the conference announced Wednesday.

This is the second first-team Southland honor this season for Valdenebro, who was a first-team all-conference selection at No. 4 singles after going undefeated in conference play. Valdenebro, a senior, carries a 3.37 GPA in mechanical engineering.

"I'm very proud of Carlos," Lamar men's tennis coach Scott Shankles said. "He worked very hard in the classroom and on the court. He is a good example of what a student-athlete should be."
