FRISCO – Rob Lee, a first team All-Southland performer this season, secured a spot on the conference’s All-Academic squad, as announced by the league office on Thursday.
Lee, a management major out of Brighton, England, was an automatic selection to the team after earning the all-league honors and qualifying academically. He finished the year with a 3.17 grade point average in the classroom and a 3-2 record in SLC No. 1 singles on the court.
The All-Academic teams are voted on by the head coaches, sports information directors and academic/compliance administrators from each Southland Conference university. Student-athletes must possess a 3.0 cumulative GPA, have completed one full academic year the nominating institution and participated in at least 50 percent of the team’s competition to qualify for the squad.
Hossam Meligy of New Orleans recorded a 3.57 GPA and 11 singles victories to earn the Student-Athlete of the Year.
