BEAUMONT - Lamar University men's tennis standout Filip Kanczula has been ranked 125th in the nation by the College Tennis Online.

Kanczula, a junior from Wroclaw, Poland, posted a 10-9 record as a sophomore last season, collecting newcomer of the year honors from the Southland Conference.

"I don't know how long it's been since we've had a player ranked in the pre season standings," Director of Tennis Operations Ron Westbrooks said. "Filip played a really strong number one for us last year and was named Southland Conference newcomer of the year for his efforts. He might be the most disciplined, hard working players we've ever had here at Lamar. He sets a great example for the rest of the team."

Kanczula joins Texas A&M Corpus Christi's Andrey Kumantsov as the only SLC men's players to be ranked among the top 125 players in the nation.
