BEAUMONT, Texas - The Lamar University men's tennis team wraps up the fall portion of its schedule at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Regionals at Texas A&M.

The event will feature players from all Division I schools in Texas competing in singles and doubles. There is no team competition.

"This will be a big test for us," Lamar coach Scott Shankles said. "There will be some great competition."

The Cardinals will be sending five players to the tournament: Carlos Valdenebro, Marton Horvath, Rob Lee, Gabriel Aboitiz and Dusan Savkovic. All five will play singles, while Lee will team with Horvath and Savkovic will team with Valdenebro for doubles competition."

"We have to start off better," Shankles said. "Over the past few tournaments, we haven't been able to get by the first round. We need to get past the first two rounds."

The tournament starts Friday and runs through Monday at Texas A&M's George P. Mitchell Tennis Center.

"We're hoping for some good results," Shankles said. "I want us to continue to show improvement. It would be great if we're playing on Monday."
