Assistant Coach - Jumps/Multis

Jake Cohen joined the Lamar University track and field staff in November 2010 as an assistant coach focusing on the jumps, multis, hurdles and short sprints.

In his two seasons with the Cardinals his athletes have compiled two conference champions, four all-conference performances, and 20 all-time top-five marks including 11 school records.

In the most recent outdoor season, Cohen guided Ashley Idunoba and Beatrice Douglas to all Southland Conference honors. Idunoba defended her conference championship from the previous year by running a 23.44 which ranked her not only in the NCAA but also in the world at the time. Douglas earned all-conference honors by jumping 6.02 meters, placing second in the competition. She currently holds the school's second-best jump in the event.

Indoors, Idunoba also earned an all-conference honors placing second in the 200 with a school record time of 24.12. Other members of the team who broke school records under Cohen's tutelage during the indoor season included Leslie Beard in the pole vault, Jamal Nash in the hurdles, and Beatrice Douglas in the pentathlon.

Prior to Lamar, Cohen assisted Calvin Robinson with the jumps and multis at the University of Miami while working specifically with the pole vaulters. That year the Hurricane jumpers had three athletes in the indoor NCAA Championships, two at the outdoor NCAA final round, with one garnering All-American honors. The jumps group also had four ACC all-conference performances that year.

Cohen competed in the pole vault for University of Miami for one year, and competing at the University of Delaware in multiple events during his undergrad career. Cohen holds a bachelor's degree in human services, education and public policy from the University of Delaware and a master's degree in sports administration from Miami.
