Cardinal Track Continues to Improve at Razorback Invitational

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The Lamar men's and women's track and field teams had several good performances at the Razorback Invitational Indoor Meet at the Randal Tyson Indoor Track Center in Fayetteville, Ark. over the weekend, bringing home a first place finish and a hand full of top 10 finishes.

Renee Graham led the way for Lamar as she took first place in the 3,000 meter run, finishing in 17:04.52, two seconds ahead of Ashley Monteau of Stephen F. Austin. Amanda King took fifth place in the event, running a 17:35.68, while Stacey Monteau grabbed seventh place in 17:51.13.

In the 60 meter hurdles Tiffany Brumley took eighth place in the finals with a time of 9.18, after running a season-best 9.02 on the prelims. Jessika Johnson and Adrianne Johnson also improved on their season best marks, finishing their prelim races in 9.14 and 9.25 seconds respectively.

Clerc Koenck improved her time in the mile by two seconds, running a 5:07.04 which landed her in eighth place. In the 200 meter dash, Rosalyn Capps finished in 24th and Porshe Williams finished in 25th posting times of 26.00 and 26.11 respectively. Capps and Williams also ran the 60 meter dash, running times of 7.97 and 8.07 seconds, good for 20th and 23rd.

Toni Sylvester and Chinelo Nwobu finished in 11th and 13th place in the 400meter dash, posting times of 56.70 and 57.74 seconds.

On the men's side, Ewan Simpson was the top finisher, taking sixth place in the 1,000 meter run in a time of 2:31.19. Danny Shaw picked up a 10th place finish in the one mile run, posting a time of 4:13.78.

 

 

Michael Gauthier and Shay Williams finished in 31st and 49th place in the 200 meter dash, posting times of 22.66 and 23.66 respectively. The two also ran the 60 meter dash, with Gauthier placing 34th in 7.07 seconds, and Williams in 57th in 7.41 seconds.

In the 400 meter dash, Phillip Thornton and Damien Broomes took 25th and 26th, finishing in 50.22 and 50.29 seconds respectively.

Both the men's and women's 4x400 relay teams improved on their times from a week ago, finishing in 3:19.20 and 3:50.68 respectively. The four-second improvement by the men landed them in 12th place, while the three second improvement by the women was good for fifth place.
