PLANO, Texas - Lamar's Michael Gauthier has been voted athlete of the week for Southland Conference indoor track and field after his performance over the weekend at the Houston Run Sport All-Comers meet.

Gauthier had an outstanding showing in his final tune-up before this weekend's SLC Indoor Championship, scheduled for Friday and Saturday at the Bill Yeoman Fieldhouse on the University of Houston campus.

Gauthier ran the 60-meter dash in 6.84 seconds, improving on his personal best in the 60 this season. He was the top qualifying runner in the event not running unattached or for a track club, but did not participate in the finals.

Gauthier, an all-conference performer last season, heads into the SLC Championship meet tied for the fifth fastest time in the conference in the 60-meter dash this season.
