Cardinal Track Heads to NSU Invitational

NATCHITOCHES, La. - The Lamar University track and field teams head to Natchitoches, La. on Saturday, for the NSU Invitational at the Walter Ledet Track and Field Complex.

Field events begin at 10 a.m. and running starts at 1. Joining the Cardinals will be Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana Tech, Sam Houston State, Northwestern State, Southern Arkansas and partial squads from Stephen F. Austin and Texas-Tyler.

Action gets underway at 10 with the men's discus and the women's shot put. At 11, the men's long jump, high jump and pole vault begin, with women's competition following in each discipline.

The order of running events is the 3000 meter steeplechase, the 4x100 meter relay, the 1500 meter run, the 100 meter hurdles, the 110 meter hurdles (men), the 400 meters, the 100 meter dash, the 800, the 400 meter hurdles, the 200 meter dash, the 5000 meter run and the 4x400 relay.

All running events will be staged on a "rolling" schedule, meaning the next race will begin as soon as possible following completion of the previous event, compressing the action into just over a projected three hours on the track. Women's competition will be run first in each race.
