BEAUMONT – Six Cardinals will compete at this weekend’s Mt. San Antonio College Relays as the Lamar track program looks to continue its strong distance running tradition.

Matt Johnsen is set to headline in the 10,000 meter run. A cross country All-American in the fall, the junior will be running in the event for the second time this season after clocking in at 30:16.82 at last month’s Stanford Invitational, which ranks as the best time in the Southland Conference this season.

Joining him in the race will be Ryan Creech and Ash Harrell. The duo had a memorable night at the Sam Houston State Quad Meet two weeks ago. Creech took home the 5,000 meter crown, and Harrell made his long-awaited return from injury for his LU debut.

Joe Wade will run the 3,000 meter steeplechase. The Isle of Wight, England, native currently ranks third in the Southland in the event after an All-America honorable mention campaign a year ago.

Sam Stabler and Becky Gough round out the participants for the Cards as each will run in the 5,000. Stabler is the fifth-ranked male in the conference, and Gough sits second on the women’s side.
