Lamar University cross country and track and field standout Samuel Kosgei was named to the Southland Conference's 2009-10 cross country and indoor and outdoor track and field all-academic teams.
Kosgei is the school record holder in the 10,000 meters with a time of 28 minutes, 32.62 seconds. A two-time Southland Conference champion in the 5,000 meters, Kosgei is a two-time All-American, earning the honor in cross country in 2008 and for the men's 5,000 meters during the 2009 indoor season.
An all-conference selection in cross country and track, Kosgei was named to the all-academic team for the third time.
The native of Kapchorwa, Uganda, graduated with a 3.25 GPA as he earned his bachelor's degree in health.
