AUBURN, Ala. - After a three week break from competition, the Lamar University women's cross country team showed no signs of rust, finishing second at the Auburn Invitational, while the Lamar men finished in 15th on Saturday.

The Lady Cardinals grabbed second place with 99 points, bested only by Samford, who posted a team score of 86 points. It was the second time this season that Samford and Lamar finished one-two, as the two teams took first and second at the Crimson Classic earlier this season

Renee Graham led the way for the Lady Cardinals with an 11th place finish, completing the 5K race in 17:24, while Stacey Monteau finished in 18th place in 17:39. Jacqueline John finished in 23rd in 17:49, Clerc Koenic placed 27th in 17:56, while Amanda King rounded out the five LU runners finishing in less than 18 minutes with a time of 17:58, good for 30th. Natasha Williams finished 99th in 19:05 and Amber Prather took 127th in 19:28.

The LU men placed 15th in the men's 8K run with 405 points. Auburn won the men's team title with 99 points.

The Cardinals were paced by Danny Shaw, who finished in 19th place in a time of 24:35, while Jake Champagne posted a finished 55th in 25:22. Martin Husen finished in 107th place for the Cardinals, finishing in 26:07 while Ben McBride finished in 111th in 26:13).

Hamish Meacheam and BJ Dean rounded out the finishers for Lamar, placing 156th and 167th in 27:06 and 27:27 respectively.

Both the Cardinals and Lady Cardinals will be in action again on October 21, when they the Northwestern State meet in Natchitoches La.
