FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Matt Johnsen is headed for his third trip to the NCAA National Championships as an individual, but the season came to an end for both the men's and women's teams as the Lamar cross country program competed at the NCAA South Central Regional at Agri Park on the campus of the University of Arkansas.
Johnsen was 10th in the 10,000-meter event with a time of 30:26.5.
Henry Lelei of Texas A&M won the event, finishing with a time of 29:36.5.
As a team, the Lamar men finished seventh with a score of 211, and Texas scored 38 to win the regional title.
Chris Jones was the second LU finisher, coming in 33rd with a time of 32:00.7. Joe Wade completed the course in 32:16.3 to end 42nd, and Stu Huntington was 51st at 32:41.2.
The final Card scorer was Alex De La Garza, clocking in at 33:33.3 and picking up 78 points.
Sam Stabler finished with a time of 34:30.5.
On the women's side, Claire Miles led the way with a 48th place finish in the 6,000-meter race with a time of 22:36.7, and the Lady Cards finished 15th with 375 points.
Marielle Hall of Texas won the individual title, and Arkansas scored 44 points to win the event.
Becky Gough was 87th with a time of 23:24.6, and Nora-Beth Saunders ended in 23:52.6 to end 94th. Angela LaBorde was 104th at 24:10.4 to round out the LU scorers.
Kelsey Young finished in 106th place with a time of 24:10.9.
