Nov. 23, 2009
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Lamar University senior Francis Kasagule placed 86th at the NCAA men's cross country championships at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center on Monday. Kasagule was clocked in a time of 30 minutes, 49.2 seconds over the 10-kilometer course. Liberty University's Samuel Chelanga set a course record of 28:41.3 to win the race. Oklahoma State won the team title. Kasagule, a native of Gyhza, Uganda, was unsuccessful in his attempt to become a three-time All-American in cross country. The top 40 finishers earned All-American status. Kasagule was an All-American as a freshman and sophomore. Lamar's Samuel Kosgei was an All-American in cross country last year. Kasagule, who made his fourth consecutive appearance at the NCAA Cross Country Championships, will compete for Lamar's indoor and outdoor track teams starting in January. LAMAR
