Vadopalaite came to Lamar from Kean College, where she was an assistant coach for the 2009-10 women's basketball squad that posted a 29-2 record and advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Division III Tournament. The native of Lithuania played college basketball at Long Island University and Felician College. She graduated magna cum laude from Felician with a bachelor's degree in business management and marketing before earning a master's in business administration from West Virginia Wesleyan. She is fluent in four languages. At West Virginia Wesleyan, she served as an assistant women's basketball coach for two seasons, helping the team reach the conference finals one season and the semifinals in another. Vadopalaite was a member of the Lithuanian Junior National Team from 1998 to 2001. At Lamar, Vadopalaite assists with recruiting as well as with practice organization and coordinating the team's travel requirements. This past summer, Vadopalaite received a full scholarship to attend the NCAA Women Coaches Academy. "Sunny brings a wealth of international experience to our program," Lamar women's basketball coach Larry Tidwell said. "She will definitely help with our European recruiting." |
