Lady Cards Face UT Saturday at 2 p.m. in Austin

AUSTIN, Texas - The Lamar University women's basketball team will take on national power the University of Texas Saturday afternoon at 2:00 at the Frank Irwin Center in Austin, Texas.

Lamar enters the game with an 8-3 record after splitting a pair of games at the Cyclone Challenge hosted by Iowa State in Ames, Iowa. The Lady Cards dropped a 72-58 decision to North Dakota on Monday night and defeated Niagara 64-54 on Tuesday.

The Lady Cards are led by Nikki Williams who is averaging 13.8 points per game while Brittney Williams is averaging 10.5 points per game. Darika Hill is averaging 10.2 points and 6.8 rebounds per game; Trashanna Smith leads the team in rebounding with eight per game, while Agnija Reke leads LU with 4.5 assists per game. As a team the Lady Cardinals are averaging 63 points per game, while allowing an average of 58.4 points per contest. Texas enters Saturday's game ranked No. 4 in the country with an 11-1 record on the years. They are coming off a 60-55 loss at San Diego State on Tuesday night at the Surf `N Slam Tournament. The Longhorns are led by Brittany Raven and Kathleen Nash who are averaging 14.8 and 14.1 points per game respectively.

After Saturday's game at UT, the Lady Cardinals will close out their non-conference schedule with a 7 p.m. showdown with Paul Quinn College on Tuesday, January 6.
