BEAUMONT, Texas - The Lamar University women's basketball team will face its second nationally ranked opponent this season when it travels to 10th-ranked Texas A&M for a non-conference game at 7 p.m. Monday.
Lamar (10-3) brings a three-game winning streak into the contest, coming off an 88-41 victory over visiting LSU-Shreveport on Saturday. Texas A&M (11-1) has won four in a row.
In Lamar's other contest against a nationally ranked team, the Lady Cardinals fell at eighth-ranked Baylor, 87-65, on Nov. 29.
Lamar coach Larry Tidwell is attempting to become the third Lamar coach to collect 50 wins, and to reach that plateau in the fastest time. Pat Park collected her 50th victory in her 83rd game, while Al Barbre needed 107 games. Monday's game will be Tidwell's 77th at Lamar.
Following the Texas A&M game, Lamar is idle until 2:05 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, when it hosts Southeastern Louisiana in the Southland Conference opener for both schools.
