Lady Cardinals head to Oral Roberts

BEAUMONT, Texas - The Lamar Lady Cardinals open a tough two-game weekend Southland Conference road swing when they travel to Tulsa, Okla., to meet the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles at 5 p.m. Thursday.
The Lady Cardinals (12-4 overall, 5-1 Southland) are in a three-way tie for first place in the conference with Central Arkansas and Sam Houston State. Lamar is at Central Arkansas at 2 p.m. Saturday. Oral Roberts (7-9, 4-2) is just a game out of first place in the conference.
Lamar comes in off a 57-53 win at McNeese State on Saturday as Kalis Loyd scored 22 points and tied a career high with 15 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season and 23rd of her career. Loyd has 1,713 career points as she closes in on Uirannah Jackson's school record of 1,730 points.
Loyd, who leads Lamar in scoring (18.8 ppg) and rebounding (7.4 rpg), has scored at least 20 points in all five conference games she has played this season.
Oral Roberts had its three-game winning streak snapped in a 54-47 loss at Sam Houston State on Saturday. Kevi Luper leads the Golden Eagles in scoring at 18.0 points per game. Jaci Bigham contributes 10.7 points and 7.2 assists per game.
Lamar leads the overall series 4-3, but the teams haven't met since Nov. 26, 2005, when Oral Roberts came away with a 111-84 win on its home floor.
