Stephen F. Austin (9-11, 4-5) is tied with Nicholls for sixth place in the 10-team conference. The top eight teams qualify for next month's Southland Conference Tournament in Katy, Texas. The top two teams receive byes into the semifinals. The third- and fourth-place teams receive a first-round bye. Teams seeded fifth through eights would need to win four games in four days to claim the tournament championship. Lamar comes off a 53-34 win over Northwestern State on Thursday. The 34 points were the fewest ever by a Lamar opponent in a Southland Conference game. Dominique Edwards led Lamar as she tied a career high with 21 points. Kalis Loyd leads Lamar in scoring (18.0) and rebounding (7.1). Loyd, who became Lamar's all-time leading scorer last week, was held to just six points in the win over Northwestern State, the first time this season she did not score in double digits. Stephen F. Austin dropped a 66-60 decision at McNeese State on Wednesday. The Ladyjacks are led by Porsha Roberts, who averages 13.5 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. Stephen F. Austin leads the overall series 44-10, but Lamar coach Larry Tidwell is 7-2 all-time against the Ladyjacks. Lamar won this season's early meeting with SFA, taking a 65-50 decision in Nacogdoches, Texas, behind a season-high 28 points from Loyd. Saturday's game is the opening contest of a doubleheader.
