Crawford Named to Academic All-District Women's Basketball Team

Feb. 4, 2010

BEAUMONT, Texas - Lamar University's Ashley Crawford was named to the ESPN The Magazine CoSIDA Academic All-District VI Women's Basketball Team.

Crawford, a native of Dallas, Texas, is pursuing her master's degree in kinesiology. She had a 3.95 GPA as an undergraduate and a perfect 4.0 GPA as a graduate student.

On the court, Crawford has started 14 of Lamar's 22 games, and is averaging 6.2 points and 2.9 rebounds per game. She is second on the team with 59 assists, helping Lamar to a 17-5 overall record and a 7-1 mark in the Southland Conference.

"Ashley is the epitome of what a true student-athlete is all about," Lamar coach Larry Tidwell said. "She works as hard off the court as she does on the court. She is a true and inspirational leader."

Crawford is now eligible for consideration for the Academic All-America Team.
