BEAUMONT, Texas - The Lamar University women's basketball team will attempt to get back on the winning track when it host Northwestern State in a Southland Conference game at 2:05 p.m. Saturday in the Montagne Center.

Lamar (19-6 overall, 9-2 conference) remains in first place overall in the SLC. The Lady Cardinals are coming off a 73-65 loss at Sam Houston State on Wednesday. A victory would give Lamar its first back-to-back 20-win seasons since the 1990-91 and 1991-92 teams did so.

Lamar's Jenna Plumley continues to be ranked among the national leaders in three categories. Plumley is seventh in 3-point field goals (3.3 per game), 11th in assists (6.0 per game) and 21st in steals (2.9 per game).

Lamar senior Darika Hill is coming off her best game of the season, as she posted career highs of 29 points and 16 rebounds in the loss to Sam Houston State.

Saturday's game is billed as "Lane In the Montagne," as the Lady Cardinals honor 3-year-old Lane Hoffpauir. The Winney, Texas, youngster suffers from beta thalassemia, a blood disease, and has undergone a bone-marrow transplant and numerous blood transfusions in his lifetime. Lane and his family will be special guests at Saturday's game. Donations to help offset the high cost of his medical treatment will be accepted at the entrances.

Tickets for Saturday's game are available at the Montagne Center box office, by calling (409) 880-1715, or by logging on to the Lamar athletics Web site: www.lamarcardinals.com.

All Lady Cardinals games, home and away, are broadcast live on the Lamar athletics Web site.
