BEAUMONT, Texas – The Lamar University women’s basketball team will conduct an intrasquad “red-white” scrimmage at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Montagne Center. The event is open to the public at no charge.

“We’re looking pretty good in practice right now,” Lamar coach Larry Tidwell said. “This should be a fun event. I’d love to see our fans come out and show their support.”

The Lady Cardinals are coming off a 16-15 season, their school-record fifth straight winning campaign. Tidwell enters the season with 106 career wins, just three shy of the Lamar record of 109 victories held by Pat Park.

Senior guard Kalis Loyd is on the all-time top-10 lists at Lamar for career points, rebounds, steals and assists. Loyd has been first-team All-Southland Conference in each of the past two seasons.

The Lady Cardinals open their season at defending national champion Baylor on Nov. 9. The home opener is set for 7 p.m. Nov. 12 against UT Tyler.
