BEAUMONT, Texas - Members of the Lamar University women's basketball coaching staff replaced their usual gear with some cowboy hats, boots, and bandanas as they joined other celebrity waiters to serve some great barbecue for a great cause at the Second Annual Boots & Bulls fundraiser for the Nederland Chamber of Commerce.

"Helping the Nederland Chamber of Commerce was an honor," Lamar women's basketball coach Larry Tidwell said. "They're a great group of people who support Lamar in every form and fashion. Also, when Market Basket and Bob Thewman from Philpott Motors are involved, you know it is going to be a first-class event.

"Jinni Akins, executive vice president of the chamber, got us organized and she was outstanding! Through this venture, Joey Wells, Ashley Crawford, Sunny Vadopalaite and myself made many new friends that will help continue to spread the word of Lady Cardinal basketball and `service above self' to the Golden Triangle."
