Lady Cards Take on Texas Tech Friday at 7 p.m.

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Lamar University women's basketball team will face their first road contest of the 2008-09 season on Friday night when they take on the Lady Raiders of Texas Tech at United Spirit Arena at 7:00. The Lady Cards enter Friday's game on the heels of a 58-49 win over Grambling State on Wednesday night at the Montagne Center. Nikki Williams led the way for Lamar, scoring 15 points and passing out six assists, while Darika Hill added 13 points, eight rebounds and two blocked shots for the Lady Cardinals. Along with Hill, Lamar's two other post players, Brittney Williams and Trashanna Smith combined to score 14 points and grab 15 rebounds as Williams had nine points and seven boards, while Smith tallied five points and eight rebounds. Texas Tech enters the game with a 2-0 record, with wins over Idaho and Washington State. The Lady Raiders are led by Dominic Seals who is averaging 17.5 points per game, while Jordan Barncastle is averaging a double-double with 13.5 points and a team-high 10.5 rebounds per game. After Friday's game against Texas Tech the Lady Cards will return home for their first of four straight home games when they take on Texas Southern on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
